TESVOLT Storage System has been nominated for the ess Award at Internsolar 2018 with a product and a project. One one hand our strategic partner in energy storage Tesvolt GmbH has been nominated as finalist for the Awards with its Tesvolt HV 70 on-grid energy storage system, on the other hand our global strategic partner in renewable energy Unlimited Energy Australia has been shortlisted as finalist with Tesvolt TS 25 and Tesvolt TS 50 models installed in an off-grid project in Australia. The Tesvolt TS HV 70: The levelized cost of storage (LCOS) is a mere 9 euro cents. With its outstanding total system efficiency of 92 percent and a lifespan of up to 30 years, this high-voltage storage system certainly pays off. The ees AWARD, which honours the most pioneering products for electricity storage each year, will be presented on 20 June at ees Europe, the continent’s largest exhibition for batteries and energy storage systems.
“We are delighted about the nomination – after all, the ees AWARD is the Oscars of the storage industry,” says Daniel Hannemann, Tesvolt’s Managing Director. “Our high-voltage storage system shows the market that storage systems pay off for industry and commerce.”
TESVOLT Storage System – High overall efficiency equals economic efficiency
“A storage system’s economic efficiency essentially depends on its overall energy efficiency. Many storage system manufacturers only state the battery efficiency, even though the overall efficiency of the storage system is what really counts,” explains Simon Schandert, Director of Engineering at Tesvolt. “With 92 percent, our high-voltage storage system achieves the highest energy efficiency found in the market.” This is due to the high battery efficiency of 98 percent, combined with a highly efficient inverter, which has been especially developed for the Tesvolt high-voltage storage system by SMA Solar Technology.
TESVOLT Storage System – Longevity equals economic efficiency
Tesvolt integrates lithium-based prismatic high energy and high-efficiency cells of the kind used in state-of-the-art electric cars. Tesvolt’s own battery management system ensures that battery cells are always charged and discharged in an ideal way. The active cell balancing is not just limited to the cells within a battery module, but the different battery modules are also optimized to fit with each other. This system is unique in the world. The Active Battery Optimizer monitors the temperature, voltage and state of charge of each individual cell or battery module, which significantly boosts the cells’ lifespan, giving the TS HV 70 a service life of up to 30 years. This is equivalent to around 8,000 complete charge cycles with a depth of discharge (DoD) of 100 percent.
The storage system is produced at the company’s headquarters in Lutherstadt Wittenberg and functions just as well with a low voltage of 48 volts as with a high voltage of 1,000 volts for stationary commercial and industrial applications.

TESVOLT specialises in commercial battery storage systems. The innovative company from Lutherstadt Wittenberg produces storage systems with state-of-the-art prismatic lithium battery cells from Samsung SDI, based on nickel manganese cobalt oxide. TESVOLT storage systems function just as well at low voltage as at high voltage, and can be connected to all energy producers: sun, wind, water, biogas and combined heat and power – on-grid and off-grid. All storage systems are produced at TESVOLT’s manufacturing facility in Germany.
TESVOLT was awarded the Hugo Junkers Prize by the German Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt for its battery management system. From 1 August 2017, TESVOLT will also be represented by a new sales office in Friedrichstraße 191 in Berlin, Germany.
